St. Tammany Parish Moves into Phase III — St. Tammany Rental Assistance Program Update

Wap xổ số miền bắcSt. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper announced today that St. Tammany Parish is now in Phase III.

Wap xổ số miền bắc“Simply by doing their part, our citizenry directly contributed to our movement into Phase III, as we saw a sustained decrease in positive cases and hospitalizations. We want to see this trend continue through perseverance in taking personal responsibility, wearing a mask, social distancing and staying home when feeling ill. If you are eligible for the vaccine and wish to receive it, please get it at the first opportunity,” President Cooper said.

In Phase III, the majority of businesses, including restaurants and salons, will be able to open at 75 percent of their capacity; indoor gatherings and event centers will be capped at 50 percent of their capacity but limited to 250 people; religious services will no longer have capacity limits; social distancing is strongly encouraged and masking will still be required; and bars in all parishes will be able to open for indoor service at 25 percent capacity, not to exceed 250 people. Bars in parishes where the percent positivity is 5 percent or lower for two consecutive weeks may have indoor service at 50 percent capacity, not to exceed 250 people. St. Tammany’s percent positivity is currently 6.90, according to numbers released Wednesday, March 2, 2021, from the Louisiana Department of Health. Complete details of the Executive Order with can be found at this: eofficemate.com/covid19-declarations.

St. Tammany Rental Assistance Program or STRAP Update

The St. Tammany Rental Assistance Program (STRAP) which will utilize CARES Act funding from the Department of Treasury, is mobilizing. This assistance is available to assist households that are unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. St. Tammany Parish Government estimates fully implementing the program and scheduling appointments in the beginning of April 2021.

Wap xổ số miền bắc“We know that our citizens need this funding, and we are moving forward to put all of the components in place to roll out our program to make it available to them. We feel it is important for the public to be aware of our progress and have an avenue to pose questions,” President Cooper said. “When the final details are complete and we begin to accept applications, we will make a public announcement.”

Wap xổ số miền bắcRental assistance provided to an eligible household must not be duplicative of any other federally funded rental assistance provided to such household. Beginning in early April, 2021, the St. Tammany Rental Assistance Program (STRAP) will begin accepting applications for the following households:

Households with an income at or below 80 percent of the area median income (AMI); households that have experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19; and households that are at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Support documentation will be required prior to issuance of payments.

In early April, there will be two locations for assistance: one on Koop Drive in Mandeville and one in Slidell at the Towers building. Neither location is open yet; however, information on this program can be found at: eofficemate.com/departments/grants. St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper Again Calls on Citizens to Remain Vigilant in Prevention Practices as COVID-19 Numbers Continue to Rise

Wap xổ số miền bắcAs the Louisiana Department of Health reports a percent positivity rate in St. Tammany Parish above 10% for the third consecutive week, St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper again asks residents to remain strong in their commitment to best prevention practices to slow down the spread of COVID-19.

Wap xổ số miền bắc“We all need to continue to stay the course and exercise personal responsibility as we take every precaution necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19. It is critically important as we see our percent positivity rate continue to climb, our hospital staffs strained, and our medical resources negatively impacted,” Cooper said. “We have a mask mandate in Louisiana as well as here in St. Tammany — every person over the age of eight is required to wear a mask in public, including outdoor public spaces. We should all continue to physically distance, avoid large gatherings, and practice personal hygiene including frequent handwashing and sneezing into your elbow.

“If you feel ill, stay home to avoid infecting others. Consider making an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine if you are eligible. We must continue to work together to protect the most vulnerable among us while retaining our medical resources. We are optimistic that these vaccines will help us to move through to the next phase of this pandemic. We need everyone to continue to do their part to ensure that we get there.”

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper Calls on Citizens to Continue Prevention Practices Through the Mardi Gras Holiday

As we head into the Mardi Gras holiday weekend, St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper is relying on each and every St. Tammany resident to take personal responsibility, and heed the advice of medical professionals to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19.

“St. Tammany Parish, like much of Louisiana, is preparing to celebrate the Mardi Gras holiday, albeit in different, more creative ways. We ask each of you to refrain from large gatherings — especially with people from outside of your own household, wear a mask in public, and continue to take precautions.”

Wap xổ số miền bắcPresident Cooper went on to say, “We are seeing our numbers decline with each passing week. Let’s plan to keep it that way, as we take the necessary precautions during Mardi Gras. Our goals have always been to lessen the burden on our hospitals and healthcare professionals who have worked tirelessly to care for COVID-19 patients for nearly a year, and to balance the health of our community with the health of our economy. With everyone working together, we can achieve these goals and get through this pandemic.”

Statement from St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper

“I want to wish every citizen of St. Tammany a safe and happy Thanksgiving. We know these holidays are going to be different due to COVID-19.  Each one of us can play a part in helping to protect the most vulnerable among us through personal responsibility. We can do this with a few simple steps. Please keep COVID-19 protective measures in mind when planning your holiday.

“When you celebrate Thanksgiving this year, please continue to wear masks, physically distance, avoid large gatherings — especially gatherings with people you have not been in contact with recently. If you are out in the community wear a mask — especially when inside local businesses and restaurants. As I have said in the past, there are several ways to support our local restaurants and small businesses. Shopping with them is one and helping them to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask when you are inside their establishments is another.

Wap xổ số miền bắc“I continue to work to balance the health of our community with the health of our economy, and I ask each and every citizen to continue to work with me to achieve this balance. By protecting ourselves and one other, we can all contribute to the recovery.  Please take personal responsibility as we enter into the holidays. Have a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving.”

Statement From St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper on Moving to Phase 3

Wap xổ số miền bắc“Moving to Phase 3 is the right thing to do for us at this time, and we appreciate the Governor’s decision. I want to thank him for his continued leadership and his consideration of my formal request, as well as the resolutions put forth by  the St. Tammany Parish Council and the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, requesting the ability to move forward. I have faith in our citizens that we will continue to take personal responsibility to do what is necessary to slow the spread and simultaneously support our local businesses. As I have said from the start of our emergency response to this pandemic, I want to balance the health of our community with the health of our economy,” Cooper said. “We, as a community, have risen to the call, to take personal responsibility to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health of our citizens — especially the most vulnerable. We want to begin to resume a sense of normalcy, and to strike the balance for the health of our economy.”

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper Offers Support for Regional Recovery Phases

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper has penned a personal letterWap xổ số miền bắc to Governor John Bel Edwards asking him to consider regional implementation of COVID-19 recovery phases, in lieu of the current statewide implementation model. In addition, Cooper’s letter asks that the Governor make the criteria for any Parish to enter Phase 3 available to Parish leaders state-wide so that each region can base their decisions on phased re-openings using these criteria. This letter supports similar appeals to the Governor by the St. Tammany Parish Council as well as the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce.

“As I have said from the start of our emergency response to this pandemic, I want to balance the health of our community with the health of our economy. St. Tammany has risen to the call, as a community, to take personal responsibility to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health of our citizens — especially the most vulnerable. We want to use this momentum to move into the next phase, to increase capacity in our small businesses and our restaurants, while keeping precautions in place so that our economy can begin to robustly recover. I have faith in our citizens that we will continue to take personal responsibility to do what is necessary to slow the spread and simultaneously support our local businesses. We want to begin to resume a sense of normalcy, and to strike the balance for the health of our economy.”

Cooper stresses that he wants safety protocols — wearing a mask in public, physically distancing, and practicing personal hygiene — to remain in place going forward. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, 90,230 tests have been administered in St. Tammany, with 6,220 total positive cases reported. This is a 6.89% positivity rate.

St. Tammany Parish Government Partners with Business Community and Elected Officials in Mask Ask Campaign.  (Read the full press release here)

St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper has enlisted the help of local mayors, leaders in the business community, and local businesses to help him continue to spread the word and provide educational information about the importance of wearing a mask to minimize the spread of COVID-19. In what Cooper calls his Mask Ask campaign, he has partnered with the St. Tammany Corporation and the St. Tammany Chamber to produce a limited number of signs made for local business to display in their businesses. The signs are tools to increase educational awareness on why the Centers for Disease Control recommends masking to slow the spread of COVID-19. The signs are free for pick up to any business wishing to participate. They encourage citizens to take personal responsibility, and to do their parts with catchy phrases like “It’s not much to ask — wear a mask.” Rip Stoltz, President/Owner of SEI-Specialty Enhanced Imaging in Slidell, generously donated production costs as part of the Public awareness effort.

Signs may be picked up at the locations below between the hours of 10 a.m. – 4p.m.

- St. Tammany Parish Government, (985) 898-5243; 21490 Koop Drive Building A
- St. Tammany Corporation, (985) 809-7874, 21489 Koop Drive, Suite 7
- At either location of the St. Tammany Chamber, (985) 892- 3216. In Slidell, 2220 Carey Street, and in Covington, 610 Hollycrest Blvd.

Businesses wishing to have signs delivered, please call (985)809-1411 to arrange.

Statement By Mike Cooper, St. Tammany Parish President Regarding Governor John Bel Edwards' State-Wide Stay at Home Order - March 22, 2020

“Governor John Bel Edwards announced earlier today a state-wide Stay At Home Order effective at 5 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020. As St. Tammany Parish President, I want to make it clear that I fully support the Governor’s actions, and we will fully comply with his order. I will sign and record a Parish-wide Executive  Stay-At-Home Order tomorrow,” said St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper. “I, like Governor Edwards, am asking for maximum compliance from our citizens. We are urging all of our residents to comply, for the safety, health and welfare of our citizens. Our community has already taken aggressive steps to slow the spread of the virus.  We are at a critical time in this public health emergency and we need to do more to slow the spread so we can begin to see a flattening of the curve. This will allow our medical resources to keep up with the positive cases we are told to expect. Again, I am asking all St. Tammany residents to be good citizens, cooperate with this order, and make sure your family does the same. We must work together to begin to see a slow of the spread of this virus.”
